Breaking down barriers to social benefits through peer counseling
Interview with Saphir Ben Dakon and other experts on the topic of peer work.
A survey by Agile The organizations of people with disabilities shows that around a quarter of the people with disabilities surveyed do not receive one or more social benefits to which they would probably be entitled.
The reasons for this are manifold: complicated application procedures, lack of accessibility, lack of information, stigmatization and insufficient knowledge about disabilities among authorities.
To shed some light on this reality, we at Agile have compiled a dossier on barriers to social benefits.
As part of the dossier, Saphir Ben Dakon and other experts were interviewed about peer work. The article sheds light on how peer counseling can break down barriers and discusses the diverse potential, but also the limitations of peer work.
