With an input presentation by Urs Germann: "Disability and access to education: Historical shifts and continuities"

Despite legal requirements, people with disabilities continue to be disadvantaged in many areas of life. Ableism, for example, manifests itself in unequal treatment, devaluations, transgressions, stereotypical attributions and structural discrimination against people with disabilities. Although terms such as inclusion and diversity are more prevalent today, ableist structures persist. The education sector in particular - and teacher training in particular - are important key areas for initiating change.

How has this system grown historically? Why is disability still associated with devaluation, especially in the education sector? Where do we stand today in schools and universities - and what can be done in concrete terms to actively counteract these structures?

Social developments and changing framework conditions are calling into question what is taken for granted by institutions offering work education and work integration. The demands placed on institutions, their services and their professionals are changing. The conference addresses the topic of change and asks what is changing and how institutions in the field of work education and work integration can be prepared for current and future requirements. Saphir Ben Dakon will give an input presentation on the topic "What has already happened and what still needs to change so that people with disabilities can participate fully in the workplace?"

A small, dedicated group of arts workers from the cultural/creative sector in Switzerland will participate in a bespoke workshop with Saphir Ben Dakon (from disframe) and Nadja Dias (Claire Cunningham Projects) on anti-ableist, disability led/informed artist support & producing practices to consider how we can host artists in order to co-create and support spaces of care as companions of disabled artists, using our roles as culture workers, as alleys, to do so.

The two groups (Artists and Culture Workers), who have been working in parallel, will weave together to share their thoughts, feelings and findings in a joint sharing session, hosted by Luke Pell.

Together we will gather and share skills in paying attention to ourselves - and others - to better appreciate what our differing ways of being in the world bring to our artistic practices and creative processes.

Via small conversations, creative actions and encounters we will begin to make a map of possibilities and practical tools to use in our work alongside each other and the disabled futures we want to dream.
